Durga temple introduces tender system to procure LPG cylinders
The Devasthanam uses 900 commercial cylinders a month at main stores for preparation of prasadams. The usage touches 2,000 cylinders a month during Bhavani deeksha viramana and Dasara festivities.The temple uses around 12,800 commercial cylinders paying Rs. 1,334 each cylinder. Likewise, the temple uses 4,200 domestic cylinders a year spending Rs. 28.41 lakh.In the process, the temple has to shell down Rs. 1.99 crore on LPG.The new system would help in saving around Rs. 40 lakh a year. The savings on commercial cylinders would be Rs. 38.40 lakh and Rs. 1.30 lakh on domestic cylinders, he explained.Mr. Rao said that they insisted the gas agencies to pay an EMD of Rs. 3 lakh. The EMD would be forfeited if the dealer failed to meet the conditions and rebate they offered, he said adding that the four agencies would file bonds.
